My love story is probably not the typical love story.
We’ve both been married before, though only my husband had children.
Three daughters to be exact.
It’s never easy blending families and we have had a particularly rough time of it, and that’s putting it nicely. We called off our wedding twice.
I even relocated to another state at one point.
And then we realized that even if it wasn’t always easy, we were meant to be together.
So what song did we play at our wedding for our first dance?
You’re Still The One by Shania Twain.
And after 9 years of marriage, he definitely is.
(When I first saw you, I saw love.
And the first time you touched me, I felt love.
And after
all this time, you’re still the one I love.)
Looks like we made it
Look how far we’ve come my baby
We mighta took the long way
We knew we’d get there somedayThey said, “I bet they’ll never make it”
But just look at us holding on
We’re still together still going strong(You’re still the one)
You’re still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You’re still the one I want for life
(You’re still the one)
You’re still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You’re still the one I kiss good nightAin’t nothin’ better
We beat the odds together
I’m glad we didn’t listen
Look at what we would be missin’They said, “I bet they’ll never make it”
But just look at us holding on
We’re still together still going strong(You’re still the one)
You’re still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You’re still the one I want for life
(You’re still the one)
You’re still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You’re still the one I kiss good night(You’re still the one)
You’re still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You’re still the one I want for life
(You’re still the one)
You’re still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You’re still the one I kiss good night
I still tear up when I hear the lyrics and I’m reminded of what I would not have had if I believed in “love at first sight” and “if it’s too much work, it’s not meant to be.”
I’m going to make a point of telling my children that marriage is hard work but anything worth having is worth working hard for.
Happy Anniversary Big Daddy.
You will always be the one for me.

Happy Anniversary! I have to say we like that song too, it was also played at our wedding. My husband and I got a lot of slack about how fast we moved things we got engaged just two months after meeting and then married 7 months later. After 6 years he still gives me goose bumps and is still the one. Anyways, it is hard work and every marriage and love is different but God will get us through it and he has a plan for each and every one of us.

Awwww, I love big daddy! In the he's-your-husband-and-treats-you-good-so-I-love-him-for-it kind of way.
Your wedding picture is gorgeous! You two do make a darling couple and look at your beautiful children. I agree marriage is very hard work but there are way more benefits that out weigh that work!
Aaaawwwwwwww!

Happy Anniversary!
Loved your honesty. It's so true–it is hard work, but worth it. And, it probably wouldn't mean so much without the struggle–the accomplishment is that much more genuine and fulfilling.

When you go through trials and struggles together, it deepens your relationship. Things that come too easy are never quite as appreciated as those that required commitment, selflessness, and prayer. The process of going from two to One is never easy, but always worth it.
Happy (almost) Anniversary, my friend!
