Its always exciting to see a bathroom unfold, but this one is especially wonderful for me because I designed it myself! It’s simple in the sense that it only uses 2 types of material: a 12×12 travertine and a 12×12 pebble tile that was cut in half for the border. It’s not done yet…but it’s getting exciting. When you are standing in the bathroom the pebble border is slightly above eye level. I chose that because the bathroom already has nice high ceilings. If it didn’t then I would have raised the border higher to bring the eye up and make the space feel larger (taller).
The step out that you see on the right is a shampoo ledge and it will be done in the same pebble material.
The bathroom floor is the same material as the shower wall but is set on the diagonal.

Hooray! I love it when it actually starts looking like a real bathroom! Great idea about the shampoo ledge. Hmmm… in the hall bathroom it didn’t occur to me to put a separate ledge that was so wide (I only pictured the smaller one that holds soap). So shampoo is just sitting in the corner of the tub ledge itself. Oh well! Perhaps the guests will not mind so much, especially since we did bother to put a jetted, extra deep tub in there– even though it is still a standard size tub in other regards.
